House & Atelier Bow-Wow, the house-cum-office of a married couple who are both architects, stands on a flagpole lot in a crowded urban area of wooden dwellings. The community, consisting of the couple and an extended family of eight staff members, lives and works in a single, loosely-connected room. Rather than a house, one might think of it as a new urban building in which work and daily life are combined. As there is an office in the house, the building is visited by a variety of people and is a space that is open to outside. The sight line passes from the exterior to the interior, and while inside, one's awareness expands to include the outside area. The building was founded on a strong desire for connectivity with the surrounding environment.
