Experiencing Perrault's architecture through video and models

Taking advantage of the Gallery's six-meter high ceiling, Section 1 provides a physical experience of Perrault's architecture. Steel mesh, a signature material used frequently in both the interior and exterior of his works, hangs down from the ceiling, loosely partitioning the exhibition space. The mesh is interspersed with five screens where vivid videos of Perrault's architecture by the filmmaker Richard Copans are projected, creating a stark contrast with the hard construction materials. The mesh partitions have characteristics similar to those of a bamboo blind, revealing hints of what lies beyond, and elucidating Perrault's perspective on space and materials.
