Judges Selected for the 2010/2011/2012
Toru Takemitsu Composition Awards
(2008/5/16 Update)
The Toru Takemitsu Composition Award is an annual competition of orchestral compositions for younger composers. Its uniqueness lies in only one judge (without a committee) being responsible for all selections for that year.
We have the pleasure of announcing the appointments of Tristan Murail (2010), Salvatore Sciarrino (2011) and Toshio Hosokawa (2012) as judges for the Toru Takemitsu Compositions Awards for 2010-2012.
These judges have been nominated by our music director, Shin’ichiro Ikebe, voted on by our Advisory Committee (Oliver Knussen, Kent Nagano, Kazushi Ono, Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Hiroshi Wakasugi) and three former judges, Akira Nishimura (2007), Steve Reich (2008) and Helmut Lachenmann (2009).
Welcoming these leading composers as our new judges, we look forward to greeting attractive new works of quality and originality.
